Oh, Spruke Fans, the fun stuff keeps coming. As you all know by now, we wear a lot of hats here at Spruke Recordings, and we make a lot of different kinds of music because we like a lot of different kinds of music, and dagnabbit, if it’s all good, who cares what genre it’s in?

With just one more week before the industrial EP goes live in the iTunes store (and stay tuned for the official announcement of that next week!) I’m already on to the next EP- this time around it’s going to be pure power pop! Stuff in the vein of Let’s Throw a Party, Don’t Know Better, Losing It, or RADIO from the first disc- the real peppy, perky stuff, so sugary sweet it will melt your teeth.

NEW TRACK: “Eighty Above or Twenty Below (Dubstep Mix)”

Oh spruke fans, it’s a good time to be genre-bending and crossing styles, because I’m about to mix things up a little with a Dubstep twist on a Spruke classic. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the genre, Dubstep is a type of electronic music from the UK that sports a half-tempo, syncopated rhythm, a sparse and cavernous mixing style, and most importantly, a heavy, morphing synth bass line. Of course, there’s lots of sub-genres, I’m oversimplifying it, but that’s what I’m working with for THIS mix.

So, here’s a dubstep take on Spruke’s greatest classic, “Eighty Above or Twenty Below”. Slowed down to half tempo, and most instruments replaced with an unrelenting talking bassline. Really gives the song a new spin.

This will be appearing on the upcoming “INFEKTIPEDE EP” release, of course.

Hey sprukelings! I don’t usually give out work before it’s complete- better to have people’s first impression of a track be the finished product, in my opinion- but it’s good to mix it up now and then. If anybody wants to hear the “backbeat” of the Confession track, I’ve got it posted below! Of course, if you’d rather hold back and save yourself for the fully polished, complete version, that’s fine too. ETA on the whole thing is probably around a week, depending on how my slide guitar skills work out this weekend…

It starts out with a gentle piano overture, before flying into the full electronic glory! This track also features three new instruments I haven’t used in a Spruke song before.
